Why winter?
Benefits:

- Northern Lights are possible!
- The limited daylight leads to beautiful light which varies throughout the day. It is not dark all the time, check your dates here to see how long it would be light or dark.
- New Year’s Eve and Christmas traditions are a fun addition to a trip!
- Fewer tourists typically
- Iceland doesn’t actually get all that cold.
- Snow is beautiful!
Negatives:
- Unpredictable weather
- No Midnight Sun
Why summer?
Benefits:
- Experience the Midnight Sun! Check dates hereto see how many hours it would be light or dark.
- “Golden Hour” lasts a long time! Great for pictures!
- Most likely the warmest temperatures of the year
- Outdoor cafes
Negatives:
- Most expensive time to travel
- Most tourists at this time of year
- It can still be cold. And rainy.
Why fall or spring?
Benefits:
- Good amount of daylight
- Cheaper than summer prices!
- Northern Lights are possible!
- Fall:Iceland Airwavesmusic festival is reason enough to visit!
- Weather is often pretty good, but can be unpredictable.
Negatives:
- Can be snowy. Or rainy. Be flexible on travel plans far outside of town if driving yourself.
- No Midnight Sun.
